Choose instructions for the Apple device you use
iPhone and iPad apps run on iOS or iPadOS, while Apple TV uses tvOS. A player available for one is not necessarily available for the other. Confirm your device model, software version and the current player recommendation before purchasing a licence.
Use the Australian App Store listing on the device itself. Check the developer name and supported platforms, and ask Drogon TV support if the player named in an older guide is no longer available.
Set up on iPhone or iPad
- Open the existing Apple device setup guide and confirm its current player recommendation.
- Install the verified player from the App Store after checking any app charges.
- Select the account method that matches the instructions supplied with your subscription.
- Enter the streaming username, password and full server address, or the alternative details provided by support.
- Wait for the library and programme guide to load, then test playback on Wi-Fi.
- Check audio, orientation and subtitles where the selected content supports them.
Before watching away from home, check whether your device is using Wi-Fi or mobile data. Long viewing sessions can use a substantial part of a mobile data allowance.
Set up on Apple TV
Ask support for a currently supported tvOS player for your Apple TV model. Use the App Store on Apple TV to check availability and any licence fee. Follow that player’s own account setup flow rather than assuming the phone instructions use identical screens.
After login, test the remote controls, channel guide and audio output. If you use an AV receiver or soundbar, compare the result with your television’s speakers when troubleshooting missing sound.
AirPlay and simultaneous viewing
AirPlay availability depends on the player, content and receiving device. Do not assume a supported iPhone player will also offer AirPlay for every stream. Confirm casting support if this is how you intend to watch on the television.
A second device can also count as another simultaneous connection. Before watching on Apple TV while somebody uses an iPad, check your subscription allowance. Closing an app on one device before testing another can help isolate a connection-limit issue.
For login failures, verify that you are using streaming credentials rather than the client-area password. For repeated interruptions across apps, see the nbn connection checks.
